My Mother, Maria Castro-Woolpert has had a rough battle since 2017. It begun with Breast Cancer(BC). During her BC time she had a few speedbumps involving infection, radiation burns causing an extreme whole in her chest to replacement expanders. Moving forward she beat BC.
About a two months ago, Ma started to have migraines and short term memory loss. Then following, her eyesight become impaired with blurry and double vision. Sleeping up until 17 hours a day. We took her to the ER. She had built fluid around her mass and that was also the first time learning of the pineal tumor. We had hopes that taking the surgery to drain the fluid would alleviate her symptoms and she would return to normal. We started out trip to UCLA.
Fluid surgery began but symptoms were still there. We realized the mass was the cause of all of this. She needed a biopsy but due to her BC infection, she still had expanders in and was unable to receive an MRI. We had UCLA remove them and start an MRI. We then had the biopsy. Radiation was the next step in her works. We were discharged home to wait for our oncologist appointment when Ma symptoms began to worsen. She wasn't carrying her head high enough and memory loss worsened, lack of eating and dehydration, we called 911 and had her transported to Mountain View.
We have learned that the drainage did not keep draining. She will be receiving a shunt before she can receive radiation but unfortunately it will pushed back because she cannot receive radiation on an open wound.
We have gone from specialist to hospital trying to get Ma the best amount of help and care she deserves. I have taken LOA to help take care of her fulltime, but in doing so, we may begin to fall behind on bills. Medical and her housing utilities.

She is loved and cherished by many from Long Beach, California , Las Vegas, Nevada, to our loved family in Germany and Guam.
