Benedict Horinek is a 2 year old baby boy from Beloit, Kansas.  Benny is the youngest of six children of the Clint and Sarah Horinek family.  Benedict has had a troublesome and painful beginning to his life - having been in and out of hospitals for various reasons.  He has handled his everyday pain like a true champion and through it all, he brings joy to everyone around him.  
Recently, Ben was diagnosed with retinoblastoma (cancer of the retina) and has begun chemotherapy treatments.  His first treatment was complete on April 22, 2015.  He has additional treatments occuring in the coming months.  In July 2015, it was determined that the cancerous seeds were not removed by chemotherapy and that the best course of action was to surgically remove his left eye.  This was a terribly difficult decision and very hard on the family.  

It goes without saying that the travel back and forth to hospitals will obviously incur serious financial costs, not to mention the medical bills, and the like. 

Since the enucleation, Benedict has had multiple medical complications. He was officially diagnosed with 13 Q deletion syndrome. A genetic abnormality that can carry with it a variety of developmental and physical delays. From these delays as well as complications from his enucleation, Benedict spent much of his last year and a half in and out of surgical procedures, hospital stays, and extended therapies.

We, family and friends, community, parish, and CrossFit workout partners, are setting this gofundme page up to aid the Horinek family in their time of need.  The last thing a family with a sick child should have to worry about is money.  We ask everyone to be as generous as they can.  We know we have a big network of generous donors from various cities (Beloit, Atchison, Colby, Chicago, and beyond), from Benedictine College (Clint and Sarah are alumni), from FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students - Sarah is missionary alumni), from CrossFit (Clint and Sarah are affiliate owners ), and many others.  May God bless your generosity and prayers.
