My Dad (Ron) had a PET scan last week. The scan showed that the cancer is progressing. There are more spots on his liver and it has now spread to his spine, in his bones. This cancer is trying to take over his whole body. We can’t let this happen. He wakes up most mornings in excruciating pain and it’s hard for him to get out of bed. My mom spends hours a day researching new medicine, nutrition and treatment plans to help cure him. My parents and my dad’s oncologist have decided to put him on a new medication that just got approved. One of the biggest problems is that my dad still needs to work. They can't afford for him not to. If he went on disability it would only give him a few hundred dollars a month. Disability is not enough for them to pay their bills. He would have to choose one, working or disability. The doctor said for him to get better he needs to rest and take away any stress that is going on. With him being self employed it puts a lot of stress on him. If he doesn’t work, he doesn’t get paid. I’m starting this Go Fund Me page again because my goal is to collect enough money that my dad won't have to worry about trying to work for the next few months while he is going through treatment and trying to get better. My dad’s monthly insurance payment alone is $525 a month, that doesn’t include the doctor visit, prescriptions, and over $150 a month they pay in nutritional supplements. Nutrition is a big factor in curing cancer. They try to have him eat mostly organic and try to avoid most processed foods as they can. He has lost SO much weight. If you ever feel like making or bring a meal by the house I’m sure they would really appreciate it.
He is not ready to give up and neither are we. My dad means so much to all of us. I still need him around. I need him to get better and I need him here to walk me down the aisle at my wedding and dance with him during our father daughter dance. It hurts me so much to see my dad like this. I just want him better. A lot of you know my dad because he was always involved in all of our sports and activities growing up. He was always helping and volunteering wherever help was needed.
If you know my parents then you know this is a very hard thing for them to except help. My dad is one of the hardest working men I know. Its time for him to take a break and rest for a little so he can heal. It’s also hard for me to ask others to help our family. I would rather beg and plead now for help than lose my dad and wish I had tried hard.
We know that God answers prayers. Our family is full of miracles. We are asking God for another one. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. Pray that the new medication will cure him, not just give him more time. Pray that the cancer doesn’t spread and that he doesn’t get any of the bad side effects from the new treatment. While you pray for my dad please keep my mom (Jackie) in your prayers as well. Being a caretaker is extremely hard and exhausting and when it’s your husband you're taking care of I’m sure it makes it even harder at times. She has been the rock of our family and she is the one that is keeping my dad going.
Thank you so much for the prayers and donations! Please Share even if you can't help financially.
