Prayers For Rachel Reed
Donation protected
Thank you for your support and prayers. Every prayer and every outpouring of love and support continues to strengthen our family and help us through at this most difficult time.
Rachel has blossomed into such an incredibly beautiful and loving young woman. She has a deep devotion to Christ.
Thursday night Rachel was the back passenger in a vehicle with two other friends. A construction zone in Madras, OR caught the driver off guard. Brakes didn’t work effectively (234ft of skidding) and their vehicle struck a stopped truck, followed by a collision into oncoming traffic. The driver and front passenger were discharged shortly after the accident. Rachel remains in critical condition, waivering between a medically induced coma and a coma of her body’s own doing. Rachel was wearing a seatbelt, but based on the most recent update, she was sitting forwards in her seat, preventing the seat belt from locking.
Insurance, both car and medical, are a huge concern right now. Medical is Kaiser Insurance, that alone is a $5K deductible, without consideration of the fact that Rachel has yet to be in a Kaiser hospital. Where they pay bills... However Kaiser also has caps. We have been told by Rachel’s care team that this is a long term multiple year recovery. As of now there are factors forcing my parents to analyze whether or not car insurance will be a contributor, it appears unlikely.
In addition Rachel’s father needs to focus on loving her, but as the primary caregiver with only unpaid leave options, the amount donated through this resource will dictate his ability to take the time they need to stand beside each other as we all rest and heal as a family. Also Rachel’s younger sister is beginning her college journey, and the family recently went through a loss of income two months prior to this accident, causing funds to be tight.
Rachel is an incredible light in our family and community of friends. Right now- we need to be her light. Please feel free to leave comments letting us know she is being loved on and prayed for throughout the world.
Thank you everyone for continuing to love on our family at this time. It doesn’t go unnoticed.
