Praying for Presley
Presley Faith White was born July 7 at 10:12, a month before her due date. She spent two weeks in the NICU at Baptist before coming home. She was home for a little over a week when it was discovered that her bilirubin levels were getting higher. Presley was admitted to Children's Hospital July 31st. After multiple test, she has been diagnosed with Biliary Atresia.
Biliary Atresia is a rare disease of the liver and bile ducts that occurs in infants. Cells within the liver produce liquid called bile. Bile helps to digest fat. It also carries waste products from the liver to the intestines for excretion. This network of channels and ducts is called the biliary system. When the biliary system is working the way it should, it lets the bile drain from the liver into the intestines. When a baby has biliary atresia, bile flow from the liver to the gallbladder is blocked. This causes the bile to be trapped inside the liver, quickly causing damage and scarring of the liver cells (cirrhosis), and eventually liver failure. Presley will go to Children's Hosptial in St. Louis for a Kasai Procedure. The Kasai procedure is an operation to re-establish bile flow from the liver into the intestine.
Presley's parents want to care for and be with her as much as they can. This is where your help and prayers are needed. Logan works for Arkups, an Arkansas utility protection service. Arkups has and is very supportive of Logan and his family but his PTO (personal time off) has been exhausted. Katherine is a case manager for Inspiration Day Treatement. She has exausted her leave also. Every single dollar will be greatly appreciated and there are not enough words of thanks to go around
