I am Marisa McConnell. I am trying to raise money for my mom and dad. In January of 2018 she was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease) A progressive terminal muscular disorder. In march they were in a car accident and my dad broke his pelvis and hip. He cannot get the surgery needed because she desperately needs him home with her. My mom is now on Hospice and although they are a wonderful organization they only stay for short visits. She requires so much more then we can provide. I never dreamed I would ever make a gofundme page. It was extremely hard to do....to ask people to help. You definitely have to swallow your pride. My mom has no idea I'm doing this or probably would tell me not to, but they are facing losing everything they ever worked for to get her the care she needs at home. If they cant find a way financially she will have no choice but to put in a nursing facility and it is my understanding there is not one in South Carolina for the kind of care she needs . She will be sent out of state and that would be more devastating then the illness itself. Please find it in your heart to help her stay at home until her last days, with my dad, where she belongs. They have been together since they were 16.
