Prayers Up and Blessings Down for Nicholas
Donation protected
Hello, I am raising money for my Sister and Brother-in-Law; Nicholas and Gabrielle Ortiz.
On Saturday, December 9, my 17-year-old nephew Nicholas Adam Ortiz, Jr. was rushed to the hospital after experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest brought on by an acute asthma attack. Nicholas was without oxygen for over 15 minutes. The hospital put him into a medically induced coma to stop him from seizing and to assess the damage, which included brain swelling. He has been in this coma for over a week and the swelling has not diminished. Although the doctors are slowly taking him off the seizure medication and monitoring his brain activity, he is so far unable to breathe on his own and is still in a coma.
Nicholas defied all odds when he was born prematurely at 3-lbs on August 21, 2006. He went on to live a normal life as a cheerful active boy and teenager even though he experienced routine asthma difficulties as a result of his premature birth.
Our family remains hopeful that he will recover, but as each day goes by, that hope becomes more and more faint. I ask that you keep Nicholas in your thoughts and prayers and to please donate anything you can to help my sister with the considerable medical expenses necessary for Nicholas’ care.
The team of doctors at Bristol Meyers Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson have been wonderful and have been giving Nicholas round-the-clock care. We only hope that it will be enough to get him back on his feet and smiling again.
Please add your prayers to ours, as we are praying for a miracle!
