Prayers & Support for Terina

Hello,

I am unfamiliar and new to all this, so I’m not sure where to begin, but our loving Terina has recently been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and needs some assistance. She is a wonderful woman, full of life and love for her family and Jesus.

Terina has been dealing with extreme back/bone pain and seeking answers. After numerous trips to the local Emergency Room, a doctor finally ordered a PET Scan that showed a large cervical mass. This mass caused a pathologic fracture to her lumbar spine and was the reason for her severe pain. This required immediate medical attention as it could potentially cause permanent damage to her spinal cord. Our first blessing in this situation was the acceptance of her care into the UF Shands medical system. Once the transfer was authorized, Terina was life-flighted from Jacksonville to UF Shands Cancer Hospital in Gainesville to begin her workup, diagnosis and treatment.

Terina was admitted to UF Shands on February 26th, and the whirlwind of tests, scans, biopsies, and surgical procedures promptly began. Initially, Terina was given the diagnosis of cervical cancer, seeing as the mass was on her cervix. Her bloodwork was abnormal and led them to perform a bone marrow biopsy that confirmed an additional diagnosis of Lymphoma. After performing a biopsy of the mass and surrounding organs, the mass turned out to be Lymphoma as well, not cervical cancer; and the cervix, bladder and bowels were not affected. AMEN!!!

Shortly after her biopsy surgery, her urine output significantly decreased, and her kidneys began to fail because the mass was obstructing her bladder/ureter. This required surgical intervention to save her kidneys and Percutaneous Nephrostomy Tubes were placed to allow urine to drain directly from her kidneys. Once there was stabilization and improvement of her kidneys, her chemotherapy was underway. Subsequently, she began to urinate normally, her kidney function was stable, and eventually her nephrostomy tubes were capped and no longer needed.

Mercifully, Terina tolerated the robust chemo very well, but required close monitoring for serious side effects. After receiving numerous blood/platelet transfusions, her blood counts were stable and she was able to be discharged home on March 23rd, after almost a month stay in the hospital, Hallelujah!!!

She is a warrior and ready to fight this with the full armor of God. The Lord has been a driving force and presence throughout every step of this Journey! The devil comes to kill, steal, and destroy BUT JESUS. As a family unit we believe by Jesus’ stripes Terina is healed and we fight the devil with everything we got. We use chemo and radiation with the Word Of God because all things work together for Terina’s good as she loves God and she is called according to His purpose. We WIN!

Terina has been through so much these past months and her journey has just begun. She has handled everything with such grace and still able to laugh and crack jokes with all the staff considering everything going on. Since she is receiving such strong medicine, she is required to be admitted to the hospital every 2-3 weeks to receive her remaining 19 chemo cycles. She is unable to work currently and must commute back and forth to Gainesville for appointments and chemotherapy. She is blessed with the support of her loving family through this hardship, but bills and travel expenses are beginning to add up beyond her means, not to mention the associated medical costs.
