The Kyle & Kiersten Bruers family were living the life they dreamed of. In June, they celebrated their oldest son's 4th birthday. In July, they completed their beautiful family by welcoming their third son. On September 8th, their world was turned upside down. Their second son, Bennett (Benny) who is 17 months old was airlifted from the local hospital to a children's hospital in Fargo North Dakota. Benny was diagnosed with High Risk B-Cell ALL Leukemia. It is high risk because his white blood cell count is elevated at a life threatening level.
Benny had his first chemo treatment the evening of September 10th. It was also the first day of the 35 day induction phase of his treatment. In the induction phase, the goal is to stabilize him and complete the initial chemo treatments. He will remain hospitalized until stable. Once stabilized, he will be able to live outside of the hospital and go to the hospital for his chemo treatments. They need to remain within an hour of the hospital. Their home is two and a half hours from Fargo, so they will have to stay in the Fargo area. The induction phase is the first of many phases. The progression depends on how his little body and the numerous medications and chemo are able to fight the leukemia. Sadly, at best Benny will endure years of treatment in an effort to get him a diagnosis of being cured.
I am Benny's great aunt. His momma is my niece and Goddaughter. I started this donation account in an effort to help them with the financial burden this presents. It is beyond what our family members are able to help with on our own.
If you would like to donate, it would be very appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please keep Benny, his brothers, his mommy and daddy and his healthcare team in your prayers. Please feel free to share this with others.
Thank you for your donations and prayers.
