Prayers & Help for Carley
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jill and I have created this GoFundMe on behalf of my best friend, Carley, and her family. Carley has recently(9/14/21) been flown to Stanford University Medical Center due to emergent heart complications.
Pre-Stanford:
Carley near fainted at work towards the end of August and was having a weird “heavy/dizzy” feeling in her heart along with shortness of breath even days after. She went to Urgent Care some days later where an EKG was done with the findings normal. Carley continued to go through waves of headaches, heaviness in her head, light headedness at times and was overall fatigued more than usual. Tuesday(9/14/21) Carley fainted at school where she was transported by ambulance to Kaweah Health. A CT scan was pushed which resulted in finding an aortic dissection, which is a medical emergency. Plans were arranged to have her flown to Stanford that same night where upon arrival, she would go straight to the OR. In the OR, they would either fix the tears with manmade grafts or replace the valve entirely depending on the damage. She arrived in Stanford around 11pm that same night. Her mom(Terri), dad(Tom) and boyfriend(Vaughn) were all able to arrive at Stanford with her.
At Stanford:
As planned, Carley was taken right to the OR once she arrived at Stanford to have open heart surgery. A TEE procedure was done prior to beginning surgery as a way to evaluate her heart, but there was no sign of an aortic dissection. So essentially, she was back to square one with no diagnosis. After that finding, Carley was transferred to their ICCU and is awaiting an echocardiogram which will allow the doctors to view her heart chambers and valves. This procedure will also give them a better assessment of how her heart is pumping and hopefully an official diagnosis so she can proceed with the necessary medical information and treatment to get her home and recover. She was able to FaceTime her family today and I have been in contact with her as well. She is scared, but is in good spirits.
For those who don't know Carley:
Carley is a 23 year old SJVC nursing student who is due to graduate in December of this year. She is a current student-nurse intern in the ICU at Kaweah Health, aspiring to some day be a flight nurse. She is supported and loved by many as her personality is bold and infectious. There is absolutely never a dull moment when Carley is in a room and if you ask anyone close to her, they would all agree. She is one of the strongest (and most stubborn) people I know, with a heart of gold and always willing to help a friend in need.
The burden of medical expenses is the last thing anyone should have to think and worry about, so anything is greatly appreciated as well as lots of prayers for an official diagnosis and treatment plan to get Carley home and back to her normal, healthy self soon. I will keep you all updated as much as I can.
On behalf of myself, Carley and the rest of the Sigley family,
We thank you all so much
