Updates on Grant:

8/8/22
A few of you have asked for an update.  We have good news to report - Grant is doing good and breathing on his own.  I’ll share a story from a school mom/friend.

Grant got a visit from his school buddies last week!  He also got to see his four siblings the day before, for the first time, and he shed tears of joy! Right before we arrived, he had PT and walked 30 steps down the hall When we were there, he was talking about the Reds trades, the fact that he’s still in first place in his baseball fantasy league, and how much fun last years FunFest was. He is eating regular food and they are going to try and get him eating more and more each day. He ate lunch with us! After lunch, he asked to stand up at the table with the boys, and then asked the boys to play Uno. Many said that these boys were the best therapy for him It’s miraculous to see how far he’s come in just a week, and how positive everything is from the amazing staff.

We reiterate the families thankfulness to the entire community for all you’ve done and continue to do.

7/12 2pm:
From Grants mom and dad
Surgery is over and the prayers have been answered! We could not be happier about the news that our amazing burn surgeon has given us! First and foremost, Grant did great during the whole surgery. We were told that he will NOT need skin grafts on his face, which brought us to tears. This was exactly what we wanted to hear!!! The burns on the back are healing well, his arms and hands we will go slow with, but he needs more time to see if they will need skin grafts. Ophthalmology told us his eyes are continuing to heal. The plan will be to try and get the breathing tube Out tomorrow.❤️ The next surgery is scheduled for Friday, same time 7:30am. We cannot thank you enough for all of your love, support, and prayers for Grant....and all of us!

7/11 3pm
From Grants Dad, Jason :
He is doing pretty well today. They changed his dressings on his arms, face and fingers. Everything seems to be progressing in the right direction. The plan is to go back to surgery tomorrow morning at 7:30. This will give us a better plan on the route we need to take regarding his face. Depending on when his next surgery will be, they will try to get the breathing tube out if their a couple days spaced between his surgeries. His eyes are in the healing process and the ophthalmologist are happy about the progress. We have been reading all the messages and cards to him that have been giving to us. When we get back to the room we will take and send a pic of his walls. Thank you for all the love and support. We are truly feeling it up here in Columbus.

update on Grant
Update from Meagan ♥️: During the surgery last night, they started phase one of skin grafts on his arms. They do the next surgery on Tuesday. That will be on his face and neck. His lungs continue to be getting clearer and have less soot/smoke. His ventilator is still in but on the lowest setting! So his lungs are working on their own. They are keeping it because of all the meds, they need to get everything figured out there. But they're hopeful he can be off that soon. Also, his MRI came back normal Our prayers are working!!

7/8 10:30pm
Grant had surgery tonight to begin cleaning his burns. The surgeon was happy with what he saw and will do another surgery at the beginning of next week to clean additional burns. Keep those prayers coming!!

7/8 7am
From his precious mom, Meagan.

“Our first born, best surprise, little boy who made us a family, best big brother, kindest friend, avid athlete, and lover of all things Reds, Bengals, UC, and Elder…. He has proven just how strong he is…never did we ever doubt it, but in this time he is amazing all of us, his doctors and nurses included.
Grant is still “critically stable.” We won’t truly know the extent of his injuries until 48-72 hours after the fire. He has been able to shake his head “yes” and “no” to answer questions and has been able to move all of his extremities, which is so great! His lungs remain sick, but this is expected. He will go tomorrow for the first of many surgeries to help with his burns. We are so incredibly thankful for the amazing care that we have received from Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. We feel like we are in the best place for Grant. All of his care team members have been amazing. Please just keep the prayers coming and know that we love you all and all the love you have given. ”

7/7 4pm: “He has been responding to everything we ask him by shaking his head, and has even helped us turn by shifting his hips. He can raise his arms. The swelling and lung damage is still not at it’s peak, so that is what just keeps us in this waiting game to see what will happen.“

Keep praying for Grant.  #PachutaStrong

7/6 10pm: his oxygen levels are better and he is nodding his head in response to questions.    Thank you for praying and please keep the prayers coming.

Please offer prayers for Meagan, Jason, their 3 boys and twin newborn daughters.  Unfortunately, their home was destroyed in a fire, and the family sustained physical injuries.

Their home is a complete loss. They will need our help, and I know we have the best community to support them. The power of PRAYER is necessary now for their family.

They will have many needs over the following days/weeks/months - we are starting this fund to help ease their minds and begin the healing.

•We promise to update on any other needs as soon as it is figured out.  We cannot THANK YOU all enough for this tremendous outpouring of support for this beautiful family•
