Prayers for T: Road to Recovery

As a coach, I have had the chance to influence the game of soccer for over two decades. I have coached countless players and have watched them grow into amazing young men and women, and I would like to think I have impacted each of their lives in some way. And, sometimes, I forget just how each of them have impacted me…until I am reminded.
On September 19th, I was reminded. I was reminded that life can change instantly when I got a call that one of my players – “my guy” – was in a terrible, life changing car accident. Thomas “T” McLaurin has remained in a medically induced coma since the accident and is battling to come back to us every day. As a mother, I was gutted. As a coach, I was rocked. But, in the toughest moments, I have called on T’s strength and what he taught me. He taught me that the journey is not always what you expect. He taught me that life can be better if you fight. He taught me that there is so much more than meets the eye. He taught me to offer strength to others until they can find their own. He taught me that life is much, much more than a game on a pitch.
All of us who know T and his family have prayed every day for his continued strength and recovery. And, as time has passed, many of us have asked what else we can do. As such, I have asked T’s family permission to start this “Go Fund Me” on behalf of T’s new journey and recovery. We have no idea what the future will hold, but there is nothing but hope and we all know that T and his family will need us even when they do not ask. So, please consider donating to support them as life continues to show us what T is teaching me now...that strength, hope, and sacrifice can accomplish anything, especially when we do it as a team.
