In the early hours of Tuesday, April 15th, a sweet and vibrant 7-year-old girl named Summer suffered a sudden and severe brain bleed that led to seizure. Up until that moment, Summer was perfectly healthy—joyful, full of life, and a bright light in the homeschool community. What no one knew was that she had a hidden arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in her brain, a rare and serious condition that can go undetected until it ruptures.

Summer was in the ICU for about a week and her medical team is working around the clock to help her as much as possible, but brain surgery is likely to be needed. The best-case scenario still includes a long, difficult road to recovery with lots of physical and occupational therapy. It’s not yet clear what long-term effects the brain bleed may have caused.

Summer’s family is one of the most loving, involved, kind families you could meet. Her parents, Rebecca and Lenny, have poured themselves into raising Summer and her younger sister Madison (4 yrs old) with care, faith, and strength. They are devout in their beliefs and are asking for prayers from anyone and everyone willing to lift up their little girl. Madison, adores her big sissy and deeply feels her absence. She is waiting every second for when Summer can come home healthy and smiling again.
