Stephnie Monroy is one of my dear friends, and right now she is going through an unimaginable heartbreak. Not long ago, Stephnie lost her cousin to cancer. During that painful time, she and her husband, Jeffrey Scoot Bickham Jr—a loving husband, son, stepson, nephew, friend and brother-in-law—opened their home and their hearts to the cousin’s children. They didn’t hesitate to step in and help raise them alongside the grandparents, giving the kids love, comfort, and stability when they needed it most. The children quickly became so attached to Jeffrey. They began calling him “dad,” and they truly found a sense of safety and family with Stephnie and Jeffrey.

Tragically, Stephnie has now suffered another devastating loss. Jeffrey passed away suddenly, and the grief left behind is overwhelming. His absence is deeply felt by everyone who loved him, especially these two children, who have now lost both their mother and the father figure who had become such an important part of their lives. Jeffrey was a loving husband and someone who stepped into the role of a father with so much care and compassion. This loss has shaken their entire world. Stephnie is doing everything she can to stay strong and keep the family together, but the emotional and financial burden is more than anyone should have to face alone.

Right now, she is dealing with funeral expenses, everyday household bills, counseling for the children, and the ongoing responsibility of providing for them during this incredibly difficult time.
