- Its truly taken me some time before I decided to make the decision to reach out and ask for help by creating a Go Fund Me page. I’ve done this a few times to help others in need to raise money for funeral expenses for dear friends that I have lost but never thought I would be doing this for my loved one, my soulmate and best friend of 55 years, partner in crime, my husband, Robert Read. We are both alumni of Riverside Dr. Elementary, Millikan Jr High and Grant High School, class of 74’. Thank goodness though it’s NOT for Funeral expenses!!
- He’s the Love of My Life and I couldn’t imagine my Life without him!!!! We were just recently given the diagnosis of Prostate Cancer after many blood tests, MRI’s, CT Scans and Bone Scans with our Local Oncologist/Urologist and City of Hope. Unfortunately, it seems he’s had this cancer in his body for several years but we just found out about it within the last 45 days. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster but also keeping positive knowing that if he has his prostate removed he should be able to live a healthy life (Hoping it hasn’t spread ANYWHERE else!!!!) However, there are many side effects post surgery that can last months, years and possibly the rest of his life, it just all depends on the individual.
- Robert will be undergoing surgery this December to remove the entire prostate so we are in the prepping stages right now. Stocking up on medical supplies, first aid needs, a walker for assistance and so on. We do have insurance that will cover a portion BUT we are in a financial situation where we need help paying deductibles, hospitals, doctor fees and caregiving services and any other expenses that may pop up that we need to care of.

- This is all so hard because we’re used to paying it forward to those in need when we can. I never dreamed that the tables would turn and we’re now the ones asking for help. We want to thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
