Hello, we are Debbie & Scott Dusseau. We would like to ask support for a dear friend and neighbor, Pat Lawrence. His life, along with his wife, Donna, has taken an unexpected and devastating turn, and we are hoping that together, we can make a difference.
Pat, a retiree, took on the role of caregiver three years ago for his wife, Donna, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. They are both grounded by their faith, family, and friends. Pat, is a baker by trade and loves to offer his services each month to his church, Saint Elizabeth's in Tecumseh. He is known in our Lenawee County Community for his famous cinnamon rolls, cakes, cookies and chocolate covered strawberries.
On Saturday, October 28th 2023, his life changed. He works part time as a driver for Chain of Love, a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Service. He was driving a couple to the woman's dialysis treatment and in the process of transporting his fare back to their destination, the gentleman became combative. Pat started to contact 911 as the situation escalated. The man violently attacked and rendered Pat unconscious while striking his head, face, jaw and neck. Pat recalls waking up in the hospital with a broken jaw, extensive dental injuries as well as neurological and balance issues.
This malicious attack has instilled depression, stress and fearful anxiety, in addition to the multitude of physical injuries. Pat will have permanent nerve damage on his face, as well as neck, back and balance issues.
Pat and Donna have very little medical coverage and no savings. They, like many, live day to day relying on social security. Pat is also the main caregiver for Donna, which has become increasingly difficult. The mounting hospital, dental and rehab bills will be overwhelming, in addition to their regular monthly expenses. Pat's physical condition will necessitate significant changes to their lives.
We kindly request that you find it in your hearts to support them during this incredibly challenging time. They have the biggest hearts and would always do what they could for anyone. What has happened to them could happen to any of us, and together, we can make a meaningful difference. Your generosity will help alleviate the financial burden they face and allow them to focus on Pat's recovery.
Thank you for your compassion and generosity. Every contribution, no matter the size, will bring this family one step closer to healing and rebuilding their lives. Please continue to share their story with others, while keeping them close in thought and prayers.
Sending love and gratitude to each and every one of you reading this.
With heartfelt thanks,
Debbie & Scott Dusseau
