My sister was a woman trying to take back her house and home from a horrific and toxic relationship. She was working hard and doing her best to support her 3 children. She was a victim of abuse from a man who could not stand the idea of her being happy in a life without him. A man who's only goal was to control her and subject her to his will. She was a loving an devoted wife who did everything for her husband until one day she refused to subject herself to his abuse any longer and left him. Through the fallacy of the system TRO were not able to stick. My sister went back home, the place she lived in her whole life and her husband also went. She refused to be forced out of her home. Then as she prepared herself for work she was shot and was taken to Hilo Medical Center for life saving surgery. Thanks to the wonderful police, medics, and surgeons/ surgical team my sister will live, but the extent of the damage is not totally known especially neurological. During this time I am taking care of the children but I am asking for help for my sister as she wont be working for I don't know how long, and I am unsure what the extent of her injuries will be, also for any therapy she or the kids may need now or in the future.
If any of you know my sister she would never ask for help, as she thinks it is shame. But shes also never had to fight for her life. So any help would be amazing for her and the kids. I am so thankful my sister is alive and I know that, "Emmy he shot me," wont be the last words she will say to me.
