Prayers for Keaten's Healing Journey

Donation protected
As much as I hate to be making this, here I am trying to figure out where to start.

One week ago, on December 1st, I woke up to what turned into the worst nightmare a parent could have for their sweet, innocent 3-month-old baby. Me being a hypochondriac, I wanted to take my boy Keaten to the hospital to be seen. He was acting unlike himself, unable to settle, making weird movements, so straight to the hospital we went. We soon learned he was, in fact, having seizure activity, so we were transported to Children's Mercy Hospital where we have been ever since in the PICU.

Every time they went to take him back for a CT scan, he would start to have seizures, so they decided it would be best and safer for him to be intubated immediately.

His CT scan was perfect, so that gave me hope. Following that, they did an MRI, and that’s when we found out what are called watersheds on the brain, being caused by the seizures and uncontrollable hypoglycemia. As to the extent of that, there is no way of knowing how this will affect his intellectual ability as he gets older.

Within this past week, he’d been hooked up to EEG and he’d been having 5-10 minute subclinical seizures. They got that under control and past the 24-hour mark seizure-free, so they took the EEG off. Yesterday, I noticed he was having an outward seizure, and they put the EEG back on. In the past 24 hours, he has had 10 more subclinical seizures.

The most heartbreaking thing is to watch your baby go through all of this and feel so helpless, not knowing how he is feeling because he can’t tell momma.

I'm here to tell my story and encourage anyone, if you have the slightest doubt that something might be going on with your baby, GET THEM CHECKED! Had I not taken him to the hospital that day, who knows what could’ve happened.

All prayers and support for me during this time are very much appreciated in a time like this any donations to help support gas funds as it’s 2 hours home and back to be with my sweet baby, his dad is constantly coming back and forth each day while still going to work each day to take care of things at home, as hard as it is he cannot just quit his job and any little things can help and relieve some of our financial stress.

This fund is to also cover any medical expenses and will go towards his Gerber life account for his future. He most likely will have long term effects. The Gerber fund will help him when he is older. I just want the best for my little man.
If you are unable to donate a prayer will be greatly appreciated the same as I know it is close to the holidays please don’t feel obligated.

Please pray for my sweet baby boy, that they get these seizures under control and he can begin his road to recovery. Pray the doctors can be guided to the answers as to why all of this continues to happen.
