Prayers For Joey Rogers

Joey went in for routine neck fusion surgery. Usually after his surgery he struggles for a week or so but gets better pretty quickly. This time around he complained of extreme pain in his right shoulder, neck and arm. So, I called Dr Zerick who performed the surgery bc Joey was out of pain meds and needed relief. During that phone call Dr Zerick told me that they found an unusual lymph node and had it sent off for biopsy. ( Which we had no prior knowledge of). The results came back that day and he told me over the phone that they found cancer which has metastasized. So he had us come back up to Ohio to the same hospital for pain management. Just today the general surgeon came in to speak to us more about it. Generally if it had not moved they could have just removed the thyroid, but his moved to his lymph nodes. They are transferring him to the James at Ohio State to open his neck and try to remove as many lymph nodes that are cancerous as possible. The doctor said bc of it traveling to his lymph nodes he's at stage 3 or 4 cancer. We won't know more until after they complete surgery.  We will keep everyone posted once we have more details.
