Prayers for Janel Baily and her family

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alexis Herzog (Lexi Moore) and Janel has been my dearest friend for as long as I can recall. She is currently in need of our prayers, love, well wishes and generosity.

On October 1st, she hurt her hamstring. Being the athlete that she many of us have always known her as she began doing multiple athletic training recommendations to help it heal. The recommendations were not helping and a lump continued to grow behind her right knee. After consulting with multiple doctors she was told that it was likely a hematoma or could be a bakers cyst. The lump continued to grow and she began experiencing many other symptoms including intense fevers and chills. Last week she grew tired of waiting on doctors to authorize her for an MRI with contrast. So, she took charge, listening to her body and took herself to the ER. It was there, within less than 2 hours that she learned that she had a massive tumor, a synovial sarcoma. Thankfully, she was referred to an amazing specialist who shares the same goal as she, to SAVE HER LEG. The amount of tissue affected by the sarcoma is sever and there is a possibility of amputation.

Today, November 16th, the doctors confirmed her lump was synovial sarcoma via biopsy. The team has currently recommended a course of action to include radiation, a surgery to remove the tumor (hopefully without amputation), and chemotherapy. The road before Janel and her family is long and paved with too many unknowns to mention.

Next week is Thanksgiving and so many of us have more to be thankful for than we could have ever imagined. Janel too has many things to be thankful for including her amazing husband and two loving children, her parents, siblings, extend family, friends, former teammates and coworkers. She is as many of us know her to be, taking this news with as much light hearted humor as she can. She is fighter, and one of the strongest women I have ever known. SHE WILL GET THROUGH THIS. Her faith is stronger than this diagnosis.

Over the coming weeks, its likely that Janel will need to stay in Denver with her sisters to receive care, and that her husband and children will remain in Fort Collins. Its also very likely that this holiday season, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, will not look the same as years past. It would be wonderful for all of us who are able, to contribute to her continuing care, and to insure the best for her family in the weeks ahead. Meals, gifts, prayers and kind messages would be most welcomed.

I will be personally updating folks via text and Facebook, and will take every call I am able to. Janel's family needs to be able to be beside her during this time and needs to be able to keep things as normal as possible for their children. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime with questions or for ideas about what needs they might have. As soon as the treatment days are scheduled, I will be reaching out to coordinate a meal train for their family. I will update details via Facebook and text with all the contacts I have. Please feel free to share this post and if giving financially is not within your means please lift her and her family up in prayer. Janel has given so much to so many and has never asked for anything to my knowledge for herself. Let's do all we can to show her how deep our love flows for her and how much we care.

Please pray with me that God covers Janel with his healing hands and that his love and grace will heal her body and that her leg will not be amputated. Pray that during her treatment she is guided by the best doctors in their field and that the treatment plan they layout for her will be effective and swift, and cause a few side effects as possible. Pray that Janel's husband will be provided for and given the strength to care for their children in her absence while he continues to coach his athletes at CSU. Pray that Janel's children will witness her strength and courage and that their mother will be reunited with them healed and renewed.
