Dexter got his blood drawn a few weeks back for swollen lymph nodes. All his levels were good except he was positive for cat scratch fever. He got a dose of antibiotics.
His parents took him in for his follow up and more swollen lymph nodes this time in different areas and in the same area. They had to do a repeat of blood work to see what else could be going on.
Yesterday his parents got a phone call that no parent or anyone would ever want to get. A 6 letter word that could make someone's world come crashing down. Dexter was diagnosed with cancer at almost 2 years old.

Around 5 pm yesterday they arrived at the ER where we were told to go and then from there we got shipped to a more advanced hospital with a pediatric cancer center. Dexter's white cells are extremely high and his platelets were really low. When we arrived they took vial after vial of blood and they gave him 2 bags of platelets.. That's when they told me he has leukemia.
Today at 1:15 Dexter went in for surgery. He had bone marrow removed, spinal fluid removed, a port put in and his first dose of chemotherapy in his spine to stop any cancer from going to his neurological system.. Dexter did well during his surgery today. He is very sore and tired.
We can use all the prayers in the world.
