Desiree fight w/cancer & paraneoplastics syndrome
Donation protected
Desiree is a 32 year single mom who has an 10 year old son (Devlin) and a 2 year old daughter (Daveena). They live in Brainerd, MN. In late 2017 Desiree began having horrible pain and started to lose function in her hands and legs. She went thru a lot of different testing and they thought she had Guillain-Barré syndrome. She was admitted to St Joseph’s hospital in Brainerd where she stayed for 2 weeks. They ended up sending her to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN on 2/5/18 for further research as to what was going on as all of her symptoms had been worsening. Since being down there she has lost almost all of the functions of her hands, she has to use adaptive tools to help her eat. She can no longer walk and will have to re-learn to walk and use her hands again.
They have diagnosed her with breast cancer carcinoma and she will undergo surgery on 2/15/2018 to remove the mass in her breast as well as the lymph nodes that were affected.
Her kids were able to spend this past weekend with her and celebrate her daughters 1st birthday in the hospital yesterday as well as be able to tell the kids what is going on.
Desiree has been fortunate that her sister and mom have been able to take her children in and take care of them but being out of work for so long and just getting short term disability is not allowing Desiree to financially help. The bills and rent are still coming with very limited funds to take care of these as well as the medical bills.
Her portion of the ambulance ride to the Mayo Clinic alone is $500 (this is what insurance will not cover).
Desiree is staying in good spirits but being alone all the time in the hospital and away from her kids on top of receiving this news about the cancer is starting to wear on her.
Any donations will go towards bills and supporting her kids as well as hopefully getting the kids down to see her some more.
Once she is able to return to Brainerd she will have to go to an inpatient rehab facility for what we are guessing will be a lengthy amount of time and followed by a lot of outpatient therapy.
Anythjng anyone can do to help is so appreciated.
Updates will be posted as progress is made.
Please keep Desiree, Devlin and Daveena in your prayers.
Thank you and God bless.
