My sister who is only 44 years old just recently found out she has multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer which only affects about 2% of people her age. The cancer has caused a great deal of deterioration in her spine and caused her to have a compression fracture which left her to be hospitalized in Washington state since 3/27/2022. She is completely bed ridden right now and her medical team are working on getting her pain under control so she can continue physical therapy to help her walk again some days are better than others. She also started her radiation treatment on 5/10/22. As you all know they live here on Maui but they were in transition to start their new beginning in Washington before this happened. And anyone that knows my sister Alexandra "aka" Zan knows she is the most loving, caring and dedicated mom to her family. She is waiting for a bed to open up in a rehab nearby to the hospital. Her children and her husband have been staying in a hotel nearby the hospital until they can find permanent housing. The funds raised on here will help with any out of pocket expenses the insurance does not cover, like some medical equipment she will need when she is released from the hospital, permanent housing for her and her immediate family, transportation including alterations or different type of vehicle to transport her around, room and board, flights, and expenses to help my brother-in-law care for their children.
