Help Baby Aaliyah and Her Family Through a Medical Crisis
My name is Kathy Delgado and I’m reaching out on behalf of my 2-year-old granddaughter, Aaliyah, and her devoted parents, Marina and Adrian.
Aaliyah is a miracle baby. After being told she could not have children, Marina was blessed with our beautiful little girl. Aaliyah has brought so much joy to our lives, but now she is facing the fight of her life.
When Aaliyah turned one and began to walk, we noticed something wasn’t right—she was dragging her right foot. Marina voiced her concerns to the doctor but was told everything seemed normal. Time passed, but the symptoms remained.
Then, just recently, Aaliyah fell from her highchair and was rushed to the ER with a concussion. During her evaluation, the doctor noticed additional worrying signs: her right arm hung limp, her little hand clenched tightly into a fist, and her right eye would close whenever she smiled. These symptoms were alarming.
We sought a second opinion. A new pediatrician immediately ordered an MRI of her brain and spine. But before the test could be done, Aaliyah was rushed to the ER again. A CT scan revealed something no one ever wants to hear: a brain mass.
She was immediately transferred to Comer Children’s Hospital and admitted to the oncology floor. This Friday, Aaliyah is scheduled to undergo brain surgery to remove the tumor. We are all praying it is benign, but we won’t know until the biopsy results come back.
Our family has now been at the hospital for four days, with many more ahead of us. Marina will need to stay by her daughter’s side and cannot return to work during this critical time. The emotional, physical, and financial strain is overwhelming.
We are a proud and faith-filled family. But right now, we humbly ask for your help.
Your donations—no matter the amount—will go directly to supporting:
• Aaliyah’s medical expenses
• Transportation and meals while in the hospital
• Loss of income during this extended time off work
• Any necessary therapies and treatments during her recovery
We also ask for your prayers. Please lift up Aaliyah, Marina, and Adrian during this time. We believe in the power of community and God’s love.
"For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them." – Matthew 18:20
We will continue to update this page as Aaliyah begins her journey to healing. Thank you for standing with us—through your prayers, your shares, and your generosity.
With love and gratitude,
Kathy
