Born on Sept 19, 2020 precious Aubree Rose has been a happy healthy little baby. This past Saturday she was taken to the hospital after experiencing a seizure. Doctors told Alysha and Jake that she would be admitted for tests and likely stay for @3 days. Everything went well. Doctors were wonderful and continually consulting with doctors from Toronto. Optimistic on both ends the family was told that what she had was not life threatening. A few more tests and they would be on their way. Then the moment happened that no parent wants to experience. They recieved a diagnosis.....Alexander Disease.
***Alexander Disease is a very rare autosomal dominant leukodystrophy, which are neurological conditions caused by anomalies in myelin which protects nerve fibers in the brain.
The most common type is the infantile form that begins during the first 2 yrs of life. Alexander Disease is a progressive and often fatal disease.***
Since 1940 only 500 people have been diagnosed with Alexander Disease!!!
Aubree was discharged last evening. Before 6a.m. this morning an ambulance was called and had her back at the hospital. Little Aubree had a seizure lasting almost an hour long.
Alysha and Aubree are getting ready to be flown to Toronto, while Jake, Jessica and Marchie make the drive to be with her.
How long they will be there and what comes next is unknown. I will keep you posted best I can.
