On September 29th, little Romi—who will turn two in December—was taken to her pediatrician for a fever. During the exam, her doctor heard a heart murmur and discovered an enlarged liver and spleen. She was sent immediately to Cook Children’s Medical Center, where she was diagnosed with sepsis, suspected to have started from a tooth that had been chipped and was later pulled.

The infection had already reached her heart and damaged her aortic valve, requiring urgent valve replacement. Romi underwent heart surgery on Oct 7, and it was successful. Then, 10 days post op, Romi suffered a stroke, and was transferred to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. There, she underwent a procedure to stop the bleeding in her brain.

By the grace of God, again, little Romi sailed through the procedure like a prized fighter.

However, the pressure in her brain continues to rise which, in turn, causes more injury. The doctors are using different methods to address the intracranial pressure. Unfortunately , as of now, these interventions tend to be temporary.

Romi’s parents, Jasmine and Christian, are navigating every parent’s worst nightmare—balancing fear, hope, and exhaustion while staying strong for their little girl. They are profoundly grateful for every prayer and message of love.
