Hello, my name is Favian Hernandez (father) to my daughter Yareli V Hernandez. On the day Feb 11, my baby was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM). She received IV steroids and oral steroids. She was swollen from her face, hands, and arms, and had developed arthritis in her shoulders, hips, and knees. By 02/19, she started to play again, run, and become her normal self. On 02/23, she woke up with belly pain and began to puke. The triage nurses said it was a stomach bug, and we took it as such. But later that night, she developed a fever and belly pain. We took her to the hospital where she was sent home with "constipation" and "UTI." Five hours later, she was not any better, yet worse with fever and diarrhea. I rushed her to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital where they diagnosed her with hypovolemic shock, pancreatitis, and coronavirus. She was intubated and admitted into the PICU. We were told we will be here for the next 2 weeks. We ask for your prayers; God is the great physician, and we pray for her fast recovery.
