Prayers and Support for Sally

Donation protected

Hello everyone,

My name is Sally Hite and I appreciate you taking a moment to hear my story and my upcoming fight against cancer. On August 17th, I had a visit to Urgent Care because I was experiencing abdominal pain and very low energy. They found a mass on the right lobe of the liver and diagnosed me with pneumonia. While working through antibiotics and waiting for further testing, my life quickly shifted on September 8th. After another visit to the Urgent Care because of symptoms related to jaundice, they directed me to head to OHSU immediately, as they believed I was suffering from acute liver failure. Upon arrival, I underwent several tests. I heard the unfortunate words… I was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer.

I experienced jaundice because my liver was no longer filtering due to a blockage of the bile duct caused by the cancer. I luckily was able to receive a stent to give me extended life. This procedure will need to continue to happen every 3 months at OHSU, unless the tumor shrinks providing me different options. The cancer has extended beyond my gallbladder, to a portion of the liver with lymph node involvement. My hospital visit lasted from September 8th-15th.

While I'm thankful to be home, I know I’m in a fight for my life and this includes, extending my life. As a wife of 44 years, a mom of 4 children and a grandmother of 10, I’m fighting for additional memories with my friends and family.

Any donations will support my medical expenses and treatment in the coming days and months. I will continue to post updates via Caring Bridge, please use the following link if you would like to follow my journey: CaringBridgeforSally

I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for helping me to stand and live.

To all those who donated, sent positive thoughts, wishes or shared prayers for our mom:
We want to sincerely thank you for supporting our mom (and our dad) in her last efforts to extend her life. She fought so very hard and having your support meant so much to her. So many times, she shed tears and expressed her deepest appreciation for the generosity from each of you. You truly touched her heart.

While she did lose her battle, she went out swinging and gave cancer every fight she had. You helped make her leave this world feeling like the strong and fearless woman she is. As life moves on, she will live on in our memories. Rest in peace to a woman who touched so many.

We will share upcoming service and details to celebrate her life. Please continue to lift up our dad as he works through his continued journey in life.
