On Saturday, April 18th, what we anticipated as being just another normal day was anything but. Ronnie and a few of his close friends decided to take a ride on their Harleys for a quick afternoon ride like they occasionally did. At some point Ronnie was riding by himself, and we don't really know the small details of what happened from there, but he was thrown quite a few feet from the bike on the 390/490 split. He was taken into emergency and his currently in the trauma ICU unit at Strong memorial hospital. Ronnie has numerous issues. He is suffering from many fractured bones, foot and both arms. There are many road rash wounds that are being treated daily. He suffered extensive facial injuries, a broken nose and is missing at least 4 to 5 teeth. The extent of what he will need regarding treatment his mouth and teeth has not really been evaluated to the full extent yet. The night of his accident , the plastic surgery team took him into surgery for 4 hours to repair what they could and all is going well there. There is a lot of swelling, but we are able to see "Ronnie". There is also a monitor gaugeing whether he has suffered any brain trauma. The bright spot is that the monitor will come off possibly today as he is doing well In that area, following some verbal commands and physical stimulation when they lower his sedation levels. More surgeries are ahead to repair the multiple fractures of his bones. His wife, children, grandchildren, family, and many, many wonderful friends are praying for his quick recovery so that we can get him home. There will definitely be everyday hurdles he faces and new treatments to get there, but we pray that we will have him home again very soon. Our faith in Jesus, Mary, Joseph and all the angels and saints is strong and we call upon them to ask for his healing. Ronnie will be unable to work, and his wife Andrea will be out for the unknown future to care for him. Ronnie would give people the shirt off of his back, and now he needs help.
