Hello,
My name is Jessica, I am 30 years old mother of 2 beautiful children, married to Fernando, we have a 6 year old daughter named Rosaliee & a 5 year old son named Roman.
On 11/20/24 my husband and I took our son Roman to Radys Childrens Hospital in San Diego due to severe headaches. We got admitted and were told that our son had a brain tumor & excessive brain swelling. Roman had his first brain surgery on 11/22/24 which was successful, on 12/4/24 the Neurosurgery team & ENT did the second surgery for the tumor resection through his nose. The surgery was successful and the entire tumor was removed. We were hospitalized from 11/20/24 - 12/13/24, Roman was recovering well, he was even his grandmother's ring bearer for her wedding.
Sadly on 12/22/24 we returned to Radys Chiildrens Hospital ER for severe headaches and fevers. We were told that he had an infection but unsure of where the source was. We were admitted once again. On 12/23/24 our handsome son stopped breathing, we were later told that there was a brain infection, meningitis Streptococcus pneumoniae that spread rapidly & caused our son to code. Our son was transferred to the PICU & is currently on life support.
The doctors have told us that there is no brain activity & that our precious boy suffered extensive brain damage that cannot be reversed.
On 01/04/25 the last brain death test was performed & we were told that our son shows no signs of life & was declared deceased at 2:43pm. He is still fighting, his heart is still beating. We are allowing him to show us the next steps.
We are a family of God & have so much faith that God will allow us to have our son back. We have an entire village praying for our Roman and for his recovery. Roman is a tough little man who was very loving, funny, caring, and always willing to give a hand. He loved to dance, sing, play video games, spiderman. He has the kindest heart any lil guy could have.
During these difficult times, my husband and I have both stopped working to be next to our son day & night. It's with a heavy heart that we are asking for any financial donation in order to keep up with our monthly bills such as rent, car payments, insurance, etc.
We appreciate all of your time & even just a share or better yet a prayer for our son is more than enough for us. God bless you all.
01/07/25 the doctors have updated us and have told us that it is time to start removing the support from Roman which means removing him off of life support. With that being said, we will have to start arranging funeral expenses soon. We are at a loss for words and are saddened to know that we will have to go home without our son. I as a mother am saddened that I will have to continue on with my life without my son.
We appreciate all of the support, prayers, and good vibes that we have been receiving so far. From the bottom of our hearts we truly appreciate everything.

Our son was removed from life support today & his heart stopped beating roughly around 8pm. Roman fought very hard & his heart kept beating for 24 minutes after being removed from life support. We are devastated and hurt that we do not get to take our son home.
Now we have to make funeral arrangements, any donation is more than appreciated. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Roman was loved by so many people & he touched many hearts in his 5 years of being with us. We were blessed to be his parents & blessed to watch him grow.

Roman was laid to rest yesterday, although it was one of the toughest days our family has ever endured we would like to thank each and everyone of you that have donated, shared, & prayed for our family during these difficult times. Roman was indeed very loved and had an entire village behind him, one of a kind with a great heart of gold. Roman will forever be missed, he leaves us all a void in our hearts that never be refilled until the day we reunite with him. A soul too kind for earth.
Roman, mom will forever keep your memory alive and I will forever miss you. Vuela alto campeón
