Some know, while many does NOT! On February 6th 2023, what was thought to be a simple visit to the ER, would end up being an extended stay at Centennial Hospital followed by inpatient rehabilitation at Summit Medical Center. During this month stay, Quiana would endure 3 back to back to back surgeries. With the first one occurring on February 7th. Where the plan was to amputate two toes due to an ulcer that had recently formed on her foot and become infected. This infection had spread to the bone. Of course this was not good news but we were thankful that it was just toes. Quiana accepted this news and was ready for what was ahead. Unfortunately the surgey was unsuccessful. Physicians were appalled at how fast this gas forming infection was spreading. After being in surgery for several hours, doctors would clean infection much as possible and create plan for second operation. Being a family of FAITH, we remained optimistic and stayed in prayer because we KNOW GOD is a healer. But on February 9th, the team of doctors would come to the final conclusion that Quiana's right foot was not salvageable. The infection had caused great harm to the lower limb and all surrounding tissues. So during this surgery, doctors would not only remove Quiana's right foot but would ultimately perform a below the knee amputation. Due to this aggressive type infection, the wound was left open to drain for a few days. Then on February 13th, Quiana had her 3rd and final surgery. Doctors would go in to close wound and form a stump. Quiana was in a great deal of physical and mental pain during this time just trying to digest this life altering change. Family and close friends could do nothing but rally in love and SUPPORT. While her sister Kenya would take a leave from work to be right by her side. As she is her sole support person and had been prior to this unforseen circumstance. She'd be the one to take on full responsibility of Quiana's 9 year old daughter Taraka, while trying to juggle her own task in life
and maintaining their bills. As of today, Kenya has been out of work for over 6 weeks and without income, yet bills continue like clockwork. Although we come from STRONG FAITH and know that God is a way maker and we're trusting him to see them through in time of need. We've also had to humble ourselves, and put pride aside. Knowing that Quiana is on the road to recovery, but still has a long road ahead. We ask first that you keep her in prayer as she travels this journey. We know that God has a plan and we will continually trust Him. Lastly we give you the opportunity to be a blessing......
When one finds out what has happened, they always ask? What can I do?
The answer is.... please help lessen the financial strain of increased medical bills and other daily living expenses while Quiana learns to adapt to her new normal.
No amount is too small and anything given will be accepted and greatly appreciated. We ask God that whatever you give, that it comes back to you tenfold! May God bless each and everyone of you that reads this story.
Love,
Quiana's Support Squad
