Our hearts are heavy as we ask for support for one of the strongest families we know.
Our best friends are currently facing every parent’s worst nightmare. Their 1.5-year-old daughter, Amelia (“Millie”), is fighting septic pneumonia and strep, and was life-flighted to Nemours where she is now intubated and under heavy sedation.
Here is the most recent update:
Amelia is continuing to make progress in many areas and we are so grateful. She is responding to treatment, and her cardiomyopathy caused by sepsis is greatly improving. She has already been weaned off one major medication and is close to being off the second. Her blood pressure is stable, and her labs are beginning to show signs of recovery. At this time, it does not look like she will need another blood transfusion.
This morning, while her nurse was brushing her teeth, she scrunched her face and moved her arms and head a little — a small but powerful reminder that our sassy girl is still in there, fighting to come back to us.
There are still challenges ahead. Her chest X-ray showed increased fluid around her right lung, so a chest tube is being placed to prevent lung collapse. She will also receive a feeding tube (ND tube) while she remains intubated, and treatment is starting for swelling around her eyes. The chest tube is expected to remain for 5–7 days.
Please continue to lift Millie up in prayer.

While they fight alongside their daughter in the hospital, the weight of everything else hasn’t stopped.
Haley dedicated over 5 years working with special needs students in Wicomico County before stepping down due to ongoing medical emergencies. She now works as a substitute in Worcester County, but unfortunately does not have access to PTO and cannot work during this time.
Ray owns and operates his own HVAC business, which also means no paid time off as he stays by his daughter’s side.
At home, they have three other children who need them too.
We are asking for any financial support you can give to help ease even a small part of this burden. If you are unable to donate, please share this post and continue to pray for this family.
Every prayer, every share, every dollar makes a difference right now.
Let’s surround them with the love and support they need.
