My name is Amanda Crumbacher, and I am asking for urgent prayers and support on behalf of my sweet little, one year old cousin, Maverick.

Maverick is in the PICU at a children’s hospital in Indianapolis struggling with post-operative complications.

Maverick always had some issues with eating (bottles, and then with table food) A few months ago a scope procedure was done that found he had a cleft opening between his esophagus and larynx. This is a rare birth defect.

He had surgery on Tuesday, Aug. 19th, to repair the opening. It should have been a fairly simple procedure with maybe a one night hospital stay. After the surgery, they could not remove the breathing tube due to severe inflammation and had to keep him sedated. The longer you are sedated and the longer a breathing tube is in, the more possible complications. They tried to remove the tube on Thursday, Aug. 21st but there was still too much inflammation and then also signs of infection.

Friday, Aug. 22nd, we had hope because they were able to remove sedation, wake him, and remove the tube. However, a few hours later his lungs started to fill up with fluid due to infection. They had to do an emergency procedure to put the breathing tube back in, and needless to say, this became an even more serious situation.

Please pray for Maverick, for his parents, Jamie and Brandon, and for his sisters, Gracie and Avaya.
