Prayers and Support for Lynsey’s Fight

Dear family & friends,

As many of you know, my baby sister Lynsey was diagnosed with ovarian cancer back in June. She was not a candidate for surgery at that time, sadly, due to the size of her tumor (21x20x19cm), carcinomatosis (cancer on the peritoneal), and possible attachment to the colon. She then started chemotherapy, getting Taxol and Carboplatin, as this is the first line/best treatment for her specific ovarian cancer. Unfortunately, after 3 rounds, the CT showed no improvement and, in fact, some growth. Her oncologist then referred her to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center just outside NY City for a second opinion. They agreed with her oncologist: surgery is not an option at this point, and the best next treatment would be Avastin, Keytruda, and oral Cytoxan. She has had three rounds of this regimen to date, and after the next one, she will have a CT to see if it is working. Lyns has declined physically over these months due to not being able to or not feeling well enough to eat enough calories/protein, as well as lack of movement due to neuropathy and extreme fatigue. This has led to some setbacks during this journey, including blood clots in the lungs and leg, continued loss of weight and strength, requiring hospital stays and time in a rehab facility. We are asking for prayers that this second chemo/immunotherapy regimen will at the very least hold the cancer where it’s at, but God is capable of all things, so we pray He provides a miracle and knocks this cancer out! Also, as many are aware, our mom has been there since July caring for her. Lyns wants to fight this, and we all stand firmly with her as prayer warriors and advocates. I have been constantly on her about ways to improve her nutritional intake and doing her PT/OT (she loves my bossiness).

I am starting this GoFundMe due to the upcoming costs that will be associated with moving Lyns from NY back home to Spokane. She needs to be here to have family to help care for her, as well as financially this has been a strain on our mom (mom wouldn’t have it any other way, & “this is what parents do for their kids”) due to mom having to pay all Lyns' bills starting in September, since that’s when Lyns' income ended (Lyns' last day of work was in June, and she has been unable to physically work since and is on FMLA). She has applied for social security disability, but that is still in process, and we are not sure when or if she will be approved. So basically, mom is paying Lyns' bills and her own here in Spokane. We also need to pay for U-Haul pods to transport all of Lyns' belongings back to Spokane. So bottom line, this GoFundMe is for getting Lyns back home and any out-of-pocket medical expenses that have accrued.

We all thank you in advance for any help you can give. And if you are not able to help financially, we ask for prayers and words of encouragement for Lyns.

God bless,
April
