On May 4, 2026, 3-year-old Mila Heredia suffered a near-fatal drowning accident and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Doctors confirmed a temperature of 107° and active seizures upon arrival. That same night, Mila was transported to a Pediatric ICU where she has remained ever since.

Since then, Mila has endured an incredibly difficult battle. Due to severe lung damage, she was placed on ECMO, a life-support machine used in the most critical circumstances to help her body continue fighting. After more than two weeks intubated and heavily sedated, Mila continues to face new challenges each day.

A planned tracheostomy procedure intended to aid in her recovery had to be postponed after Mila began experiencing episodes of neuro-storming. Follow-up imaging has shown signs of hypoxic brain injury and permanent neurological damage. Because she remains on ECMO, doctors have not yet been able to perform an MRI to fully assess the extent of the injury. The prognosis has been uncertain and continually changing.

Yet through all of this, Mila continues to fight.

Her family has remained faithfully by her side every single day — praying, hoping, grieving, and trusting the Lord through unimaginable circumstances. In the middle of this trial, they are also carrying the weight of overwhelming financial uncertainty. Mila’s father is currently laid off and without active household income while the family continues navigating prolonged hospitalization, medical decisions, travel, meals, and the many unseen costs that accompany a crisis like this.

We are creating this fundraiser to help relieve some of that burden so the family can focus fully on Mila and her recovery.

Please pray for Mila’s lungs to continue healing so she can come off ECMO. Pray for wisdom for her doctors, peace for her parents and siblings, and mercy from the Lord as they walk through each uncertain day. Pray, if it is God’s will, for complete healing and restoration for little Mila.
