If you know me, you know Lilo and Tabbie are my entire world. Over the past three months, Lilo has been battling a severe gastrointestinal illness and was diagnosed with protein-losing enteropathy (PLE) caused by chronic intestinal inflammation and lymphangiectasia. PLE is serious and unpredictable. While it can be managed with strict prescription diet, daily medications (he’s currently on 3 as we’ve been able to ween off some), and close specialist monitoring. So far, Lilo’s medical bills have exceeded $14,000. Between emergency care, specialists, diagnostics, medications, and prescription food, the financial weight has become overwhelming. I will always fight for my animals, they are my family and my babies, but this has placed me in a VERY difficult financial position.
