Just a month ago, my stepdad Leo experienced a sudden medical emergency when his heart stopped. He was revived by the firefighters from the Yigo fire station, for which we are incredibly grateful. Leo is a hardworking provider, a devoted husband, and a great dad who supports my mom and my younger brother, Liam. After doctors in Guam were unable to determine the cause, further testing in the Philippines revealed severe blockages in his heart that now require heart bypass (open-heart) surgery. Two of his main arteries are no longer functioning—one is completely cut off and another is 100% blocked—leaving only one artery working to supply blood to his heart.
Thankfully, his medical insurance is covering the surgery in the Philippines. However, due to the seriousness of the procedure and recovery process, my mom and stepdad are required to remain there for about two months and will both be away from work during that time. In addition to time away from work, there will be ongoing needs after surgery, including medications, proper rehabilitation, and recovery-related care.
We are hoping to raise $10,000 to help ease the financial strain that comes with extended recovery and time away from work, and to support Leo’s post-surgery care so he can heal safely and fully. Any support—whether through a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or keeping our family in your prayers—means more than we can express. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and God bless.
