On January 5, 2026, Kristi was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Upon arrival, doctors discovered she was in septic shock, and further testing revealed a staph infection that had entered her bloodstream. What began as a sudden emergency quickly became a life-threatening situation.
Due to the severity of her condition and multiple serious complications, Kristi was transferred to Grand Rapids for more intensive, specialized care. Since then, she has already undergone three surgeries, with doctors indicating that additional surgeries may be necessary in the future depending on her plan of care. At this time, Kristi remains in critical condition, is not awake or responsive, and continues to fight for her life.
Doctors believe this will be a long and difficult journey, involving ongoing medical interventions and a recovery that could last two to three months or longer.
Kristi’s daughter, Kaitlyn, has remained by her side throughout this ordeal. While her mother is hospitalized, Kaitlyn has had to take time away from work in order to be present, make medical decisions on her mother’s behalf, and provide constant support during this critical time.
This fundraiser is to help Kaitlyn cover basic living expenses during this period—including rent, bills, travel to and from the hospital, and everyday necessities—so she can focus on being there for her mom without the added burden of financial stress.
More than anything, the family is asking for prayers. Please pray for Kristi’s healing, for wisdom and strength for her medical team, and for peace, endurance, and comfort for Kaitlyn as she walks through this alongside her mother.
Any donation is deeply appreciated, but even if you’re unable to give, sharing this fundraiser and keeping Kristi in your prayers means just as much. Please continue to lift Kristi and her family up in prayer as they take this one day at a time.
