Hello, I'm Nakitra Porter, a friend of Katrece Barber. Katrece is a nurse practitioner at Ochsner (The Grove). Katrece has spent her career caring for countless patients with a generous heart and a constant smile. Anyone who knows a nurse understands the incredible dedication it takes and Katrece embodies that spirit completely.

So, I'm reaching out for your support for my dear friend. On Monday, May 5th, she fell down in the parking lot at a grocery store. Thankfully, a kind stranger found her and called 911 and used her phone to contact her daughter. She was originally transported to Ochsner Hospital in Baton Rouge. But after a full evaluation, doctors determined she needed more specialized care. Due to weather conditions, she couldn't be airlifted and instead was taken by ambulance to Ochsner New Orleans. There, after several tests, She was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm. Doctor's performed an emergency procedure involving a drain and coiling to stop the bleeding. Unfortunately, she has since suffered an additional stroke and remains in the ICU during this critical phase of her recovery. As Katrece focuses on healing, she will need help covering day-to day expenses. Any donation no matter the amount will go a long way in supporting her during this incredibly difficult time.
