Firstly, it's taken me a lot to make this. But I've had multiple people say I needed to and so many people wanting to help. So here it is...
As most of you know, on December 17th I rushed Kaden to the hospital for severe stomach pain. He was grey when we made it to the ER. His heart rate was high and BP was low. They wasted no time fishing him back and suddenly the room was full of people working on him. After running multiple tests and scans, Kaden was admitted into the hospital. He barely got a room when a sepsis alert was called on him. Kaden was extremely sick suddenly and nobody could figure out why! They decided to do emergency exploratory surgery. Longest and scariest 2 hours of my life! It was found during surgery that Kaden has multiple abscesses on the outside of his lower intestines that ruptured. His abdomen was full of infection and pus. They cleaned it up and removed his healthy appendix (as a precaution) and then placed a JP drain to try to clear out the infection. His surgeon said Kaden perforated his bowel and it leaked which is how he became so sick, so fast! They're thinking it was caused by Crohn's but we will not have a diagnosis for another 5-6 weeks when they do his next procedure. He also has about a 6-inch section of his lower intestine that is inflamed and they're considering removing. They started him on 2 different IV antibiotics and pain management. Kaden was still very sick and fighting fevers, and excruciating pain. To the point he could barely keep his eyes open or talk. Finally, on Friday, he seemed to have improved. We were optimistic that he'd be coming home soon. However, Saturday came and things took a turn for the worse. The JP drain output turned green (literally green), he spiked a fever of 103, was in excruciating pain again, and was barely coherent. After his surgeon spoke with the specialist surgeon in Portland (2 hours from home) they decided Kaden needed to be transferred for higher care and possibly another surgery. By Saturday night we were in Portland and it was a rough start. Kaden was still in excruciating pain, still fighting a fever, and was struggling excruciatingly with any and all stimuli. Lights, sounds, etc. They finally got his pain somewhat under control and then he had another CT scan early (5 am) Sunday morning. Those scans came back as still having inflammation of the intestine but also appear he has another bowel leak. So they ran a bunch of labs and continued on the 2 IV antibiotics. Kaden will be going back tomorrow (Tuesday) or the next for another CT scan. Which I'll update with those results when we get them. As of yesterday afternoon, Kaden is awake more and feeling better. However, he's still extremely sick and his surgeon has a lot of concerns. But we'll know more hopefully after his CT scan over the next couple of days. But at this point, we have no idea when he will be discharged. Josh and I have both missed work over this and it seems we're going to be missing a lot more during this. My job is also shutting down within the next 6 weeks-ish. So along with all of the stuff with Kaden, I also won't have my job much longer most likely. If this new company does take me, it will still be a significant pay cut.
That said, bills and life expenses don't stop when things like this happen. It actually gets more expensive! Josh is home taking care of the girls and animals and I'm 2 hours away with Kaden during the scariest time of our lives. I also only came with the clothes I was wearing and so I had to go buy clothes and other items me and Kaden need while here. And it sounds like we won't be home for Christmas either.
Long story short, we have had a lot of people wanting to help and telling me to make a GoFundMe to help ease some of the stress of all of this. So I set my pride aside and decided to do this. If you want to help it would be greatly appreciated but at the very least, please just keep praying for our boy ❤️
