Prayers and Support for J.K.

Hi, my name is Jessica Bellush, and I am JK Robbins’ sister. On March 25, 2023, I received a phone call from IU Health Emergency Dept. telling me that JK was in the ER and I was listed as his next of kin. I needed to get there immediately. It was one of the single most terrifying phone calls of my life. They day before this phone call, I (along with 99% of Bedford), was attending the BNL Lady Stars Championship. During the game, Purdue was playing IU. I bet JK that Purdue would beat IU on their home court. JK had been texting me non stop that day, but after IU won for the second time, JK never texted. I sure wasn’t going to open that can of worms, so I didn’t text him first. As the evening went on, and we celebrated the Lady Stars win, I commented many times that I should have heard from JK. We stayed all night that evening in Indy and headed home the next day. No one had heard from JK since about 4:20 the day before. If you know JK, you know that he texts 24/7!! His son, Grant, finally went out to his house and found JK on the ground, unable to move. After researching, we figured that he had been on the ground for 24 hours. JK had suffered a blain bleed and had a severe stroke. The cause of his brain bleed is still undetermined. His stroke left JK paralyzed on his left side. JK was immediately intubated and flown to Bloomington ICU. JK spent 16 days in the ICU before being transferred to Bloomington Regional Rehabilitation. Tomorrow marks the 1 month mark of his stroke and we are not out of the woods yet. JK still suffers from the blood on his brain, and he continues to be mostly paralyzed on his left side. JK suffers from seizures as well. He has a long road ahead of him. This presents us, the family, with an entirely new set of responsibilities as his release date nears. We always hold on to the faith that God will continue to work miracles in JK. It is a miracle that he is even alive. The doctors didn’t project that he would survive the first night in the ICU. God is good. The prayers of our great community have saved JK. I have set up this account, deleted the account, and set it up again numerous times. It is not in our nature to ask for anything. However, I have had lots and lots of people ask for a way to help JK with his medical expenses. We appreciate all of the prayers and the support. It means so much to us.
