Hi, my name is Debra and I am Cody's girlfriend of 3 years. Our family recently faced a sudden and devastating event on February 28, 2026. On that day, Cody was admitted to the University of New Mexico's Trauma Hospital after being struck by an SUV during an afternoon bike ride. Cody sustained multiple serious injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, broken ribs, a broken pelvis, a fractured skull, several small fractures on his spine, a lacerated liver, and minor kidney damage.

Cody has already undergone surgery to address the injuries he suffered. After his release from UNMH, he was transferred directly to an inpatient rehabilitation facility. There, he worked with physical, occupational, and speech therapists to help regain mobility and memory. The traumatic brain injury affected his short-term memory, especially day-to-day recall, which continues to be a challenge. Now, Cody has been discharged and is back home, but he still needs ongoing outpatient therapy. I am currently the sole provider for our family, and my work hours are limited due to the care Cody requires, as well as the responsibilities of looking after Serenity (daughter) and attending all follow-up appointments, including therapy sessions. The uncertainty of our situation is overwhelming as we face many unknown's.

Any donations collected through this fundraiser will be used to cover medical expenses not covered by insurance, food, bills, and other costs related to Cody's recovery.
