Last night, we had a terrible accident... My boyfriend's brother was involved in a hit and run accident. His name is Chance; he's 19 years old and autistic. He had just left our place from hanging out and was walking across a main road using the crosswalk. The light had turned red, and he proceeded to walk. He got halfway through the right side of the road, and someone ran the red light and hit him going about 40-45 miles an hour. He was brought to Fremont Hospital, stabilized, and then life-flighted to UNMC. He has severe head trauma and possible spine trauma. They removed a peice of his skull early December 10th to reduce swelling. on Wednesday December 17th he is going to get a tracheotomy wich is where they put tube in his throat to help him breath and a feeding tube. They have him fully off of sedation but he still hasn't woken up yet. The doctors gave his family the option to let him go but his family said no and is giving him as much time as they can for him to heal and recover from this. He had an MRI today and it was very good news he will recover from this but he will need a lot of help through this we are now just waiting for him to wake up. We would appreciate any help we can get for possible medical bills, recovery, and for his family for hospital stays. We can't begin to describe how grateful we are for everyone's support and prayers for Chance. Thank you everyone for everything! There will be updates on here as often as I get them.
