Hello, my name is Hailey, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my sister, Caitlin, my brother-in-law, Anthony, and their newborn son, Tatum who was born prematurely at 36wks gestation.
On January 16th, 2026, Caitlin and Anthony went to the birth center after Caitlin began experiencing extreme pain. Although she was not yet in labor, doctors quickly determined that an emergency C-section was necessary when Tatum began losing oxygen and his heart rate dropped. During this time, Tatum suffered from hypoxia and later developed bleeding in his lungs.
Tatum was transferred to Madera Valley Children’s Hospital, where he is currently receiving exceptional care. As of January 18th, there has been no further bleeding in his lungs. While he remains on a ventilator, he has shown encouraging improvement—his vital signs are stable, and doctors have been able to reduce his sedation. At this time, it’s still unclear what impact the lack of oxygen may have had on Tatum’s brain. Only time, along with labs, testing, and careful observation, will give us those answers. Because of this, we expect his NICU journey to be a long one.
At the same time, Caitlin has been facing serious medical complications of her own and is still hospitalized in Sonora, recovering and fighting her own battle.
This has been an overwhelming and emotional time for their family. We are asking for prayers for Caitlin, Anthony, and sweet baby Tatum, as well as any donations you may be able to give. Contributions will help ease the financial burden of mounting medical bills, travel and lodging costs between hospitals, and time missed from work.
Any support—whether through prayers, sharing this page, or donating—means more than words can express. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with this family during such a difficult time.
