On February 3rd, Julie, a member of our CrossFit Elation Nation family, experienced an unthinkable tragedy that changed her life in an instant. Her 3-week-old son, Ricky, was rushed to the emergency room and admitted to the NICU at CHOP. Multiple tests revealed skull fractures, brain swelling and bleeding, bleeding behind his left eye, and rib fractures. His father now has pending criminal charges and is currently in prison.

Most importantly, we ask for your prayers for Ricky’s healing. He is now out of the hospital and requires a feeding tube for nutrition but still faces a long road ahead. Doctors do not yet know the long-term impact of his traumatic brain injury. He may face challenges with vision, walking, talking, muscle development, and other milestones, and will likely require multiple therapies and ongoing medical care. Julie and her family are praying that Ricky will recover fully and that the trauma he endured will leave no lasting limitations.

As Julie focuses on caring for Ricky and ensuring his safety and recovery, she is also facing significant legal, medical, and living expenses. If you are willing and able, any financial support would help relieve some of this burden so she can devote her time and energy to her son’s care and future.
