Prayers and Support for Baby Nash

On 11/22/2025, baby Nash Dean made his way into the world after a long pregnancy marked by a few complications. Sam and Cody had already endured several difficult weeks, which came to a head when doctors recommended a C-section due to high fluid levels and Nash being breech. However, when Sam went in for the procedure, they discovered Nash had flipped head-down, giving her the option to attempt a traditional delivery.
When it came time for Nash’s arrival, he struggled and needed assistance. I was with the kids in a nearby room, placed out of sight from the hallway where everything was happening. Staff told us not to open the door because what was coming down the hall might scare the children, so we waited until someone could come get us.
We later learned that Nash was not breathing when he was born. He was intubated and rushed to the NICU, where he has remained since. The team immediately began a “cooling method,” a form of medical hypothermia meant to limit any potential damage caused by the lack of oxygen. After three days of cooling, they will begin gradually warming him again.
Right now, Nash is being fed through a tube and supported by a respirator to ensure his breathing stays steady. He no longer needs supplemental oxygen, but he is still working on finding a consistent rhythm. He is under continuous EEG monitoring to watch for seizure activity, and he’s undergoing tests nearly every hour.
At this point, it is a waiting game. We wait to see when Nash can breathe and eat on his own, and we wait to learn whether any seizure activity appears once he is warmed and taken off the medication keeping him sedated. We wait, and we pray. His three very excited siblings have only seen him in photos, his tiny face covered in tubes and wires. His parents are waiting for the moment they can finally hold him and take him home.
Sam is still in the hospital recovering from her own health setbacks, while Cody is being a super dad to the kids at home. Their entire plan has been turned upside down—they expected to be home with Nash by Sunday evening. Instead, they are facing additional costs for multiple daily trips to the hospital. Cody may need to postpone returning to work to support both Sam and Nash, as well as care for the older kids. They also don’t yet know what Nash may need in the near future to ensure the best possible recovery once he comes home.
Cody and Sam are not the type to ask for help; they always find a way. But right now, they deserve to focus solely on their family. If you cannot donate, please keep them in your prayers. We pray for baby Nash to come through this with minimal to no long-term complications, and for the entire Berry family to find peace and calm during this incredibly difficult time.
