March 25th was the day we learned our daughter had cancer.. my heart heavy, my soul shattered, my mind not fully comprehending what was happening. Left speechless for days after. How can we go from such a normal life to this? I finally have wrapped my head around it realizing this was a nightmare I’m not gonna wake up out of. This is now our life. It’s here, it’s present it’s aggressive. Hearing those words “ your daughter has cancer” was just the confirmation for me after doing tons of research I knew something was off with my baby. Before cancer, she got diagnosed with horners syndrome. Trying to put all the pieces together and why this happened could’ve been multiple things. As birth trauma, development issues in her carotid artery, neroblastoma. I then did research on each individual cause but something in my gut was telling me neroblastoma, I started noticing lumps on her and my pediatrician didn’t seem to worried but within two weeks I kept finding more finally making the appointment with the dermatologist hoping it was just random cysts all over but still in the back of my head I knew it was something bigger the dermatologist sent me to the hospital right away and that’s where it hit me even deeper. My baby is sick. Never not trust your intuition mamas. The doctors said I caught it quick but little did we know after getting a mri done my baby already developed cancer in utero. There was nothing we could do to prevent it. I strongly believe, God wouldn’t put my family or my daughter through this if we couldn’t handle it. We are thankful for every second, every minute, every hour, everyday we get to have with our sweet baby angel. Gracie has two tumors one in her neck and abdomen and lesions all over ( metastatic) the doctors were surprised that she is capable to drink and swallow and even pass her bowel. She had no other symptoms indicating cancer such as lethargic, fever, weight loss, poor eating. She’s a healthy baby overall doing what any newborn can do. This is why the doctors said I caught this so quick, in a few more weeks she would’ve been showing these symptoms and the masses and lesions could’ve been way bigger. But with everything going on now knowing my baby is fighting a horrible disease, she is still smiling and showing me how strong she is. This is not hereditary, this is just a DNA mutations that formed rapidly and grew bigger. She is classified as stage 4 neruroblastoma. My baby is a fighter. I trust in our father to guide us, give us courage and strength. Please pray for my baby and our family
