Prayers and Pennies for Puba
Donation protected
Keith Hester, or Puba, as he is known by so many, has been battling Cancer since November 2018.
He was diagnosed with Ampullary Cancer (a rare form of cancer of the first part of the small intestine).
He received a round of aggressive chemotherapy from first of December until April 2019 and the cancer markers fell. He was scheduled for a Whipple surgery to remove the tumor on 6/19/2019.
However, his last scan showed , according to the surgeons at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, that the Whipple surgery was too risky to perform . Instead, they performed an Exploratory Surgery with liver biopsy.
The biopsy of the liver was positive for adenocarcinoma of the liver and now his diagnosis is now Stage 4 metastatic of the Ampulla.
We are continuing to explore second opinions and are in contact with MD Anderson Cancer center, Memorial Hermann, and Dr Michael Castine in Baton Rouge.
We are not going to begin palliative chemotherapy until we get his second opinions. We want to explore every possible option to help with a positive outcome. This is risky, however, we do not want the chemo to interfere with any future scans or tests that need to be run.
We are asking for donations for possible medical procedures and treatments and hospital admissions not covered by insurance, as well as transportation and lodging .
Keith has been weakend by the chemo and the cancer and has a difficult time maintaining the property. We are also asking for donations to hire landscapers and handymen to help do odd jobs around the house.
We want to thank everyone for any support you can give. Every little bit helps.
Please keep Keith in your prayers and also pray for our family. Thank you, God Bless.
We will continue to keep everyone updated regularly with Keith's progress and treatment plans.
