I’m writing this for my incredible wife, Mickaela. At just 28 years old, she is my absolute world, my partner in everything, and the most selfless, wonderful mother to our four-year-old daughter and two year old son. Right now, she is fighting for her life in her second battle with cancer, and I want to share our story.
After our son was born, Mickaela kept feeling like something was seriously wrong, but doctors back home kept missing the signs. By the time we traveled to Michigan to visit family for Christmas in late 2024, it became clear just how sick she really was. We were desperate for answers.
On New Year’s Day 2025, our world stopped. We received the news that every family dreads hearing, it was cancer. Not only that, but it was a rare, aggressive form that had already spread to her uterus, lungs, liver, and pancreas. It was Stage 4.
For the next eight months, I watched my wife endure absolute torture, Endless rounds of chemotherapy, blood transfusions, painful daily injections that caused severe bone pain, endless labs, and weekly drives back and forth to Chicago for treatments. As a husband, sitting beside her and watching her go through that was heart breaking. But Mickaela is a force. Being a mom gave her an unbelievable strength, even on the days her body was completely broken, her love for our kids kept her fighting.
And she did it. Mickaela rang the bell and beat Stage 4 cancer. For a moment, we could finally breathe again.
But this past November, the pain crept back. Her bloodwork started raising red flags, leading to more scans and tests. In January, PET scans and a brain MRI brought the news that broke our heart all over again... The cancer is back, and it has spread to her brain.
After pushing through even more aggressive chemo, radiation, and treatments that didn't work, she is now starting immunotherapy. Moving into this next chapter, we are facing so many terrifying unknowns. Her medical team expects this treatment journey to stretch over the next 18 to 24 months.
I set up this page so that as her husband, I can lift as much weight off her shoulders as possible, allowing her to focus every ounce of her strength on healing and beating this disease once again.
More than anything, I am asking for your prayers. Please pray for my wife’s strength, for complete healing over her body, and for our young family. Every prayer, share, and kind word means more to us than I could ever express.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for standing with us, supporting my family, and wrapping Mickaela in love.
