On Sunday, January 4th around 1 am my uncle, Gary Gilbreath, was in a house fire. He fought his way out before the firefighters showed up but unfortunately he sustained severe burns and is not doing well. He is in critical condition at Shands Hospital Burn Center ICU in Gainesville, FL. Due to previous conditions and 3rd degree burns on more than 50% of his body, his chances are looking at about 20% of survival maybe less, but the doctors are doing everything they possibly can. With the chance of survival, he's looking at about 6-8 months in the hospital, with multiple surgeries, and even longer in extensive rehab, plus care for the rest of his life.

His father also lost his life, along with their pet dog, in this same fire. An investigation is being done but we haven't heard anything on what may have caused the fire yet.

Gary loves and is passionate about God. He grew up going to Meigs Church of God and the First Baptist Church of Pelham. He is very smart and could throw facts out of his mouth about anything. He is stubborn as hell but only in a way a person can be with a personality and a heart as big as his (if you know him you know). All in all he is a son, a brother, and an uncle and is very loved by the whole family.

My nana (Louise cooper) and mother (Tina Smith), his mom and sister, are currently taking off work, dropped everything, and staying in a hotel so they can be by his side every moment and support him through this unimaginable ordeal.

The damages mentally will be there forever for him and our family but we're trying our best to help with financial damages. We can only do so much with the hotel stays, time off work, medical costs, and possible lifetime care that will come. Every contribution would help, big or small. If you have the means to donate and help we'd appreciate it more than anything. If you don't but would like to say a prayer in honor of him and getting our family through this very tough time that would be more than enough.
